Shortly after the rebranding of our gin, we received a lovely review in the newspaper De Standaard, written by Simonne Wellekens. We are very proud of this! Read the review
Alcoholic gin requires a minimum ABV of 38%. The grain distillate with juniper as a solid base is enriched with 23 botanicals, that give each gin its specific flavour. Gin is colourless, tastes dry and strongly alcoholic and is rarely consumed straight. In 2012 Patrick Van Schandevijl distilled an authentic premium gin at Distillery De Moor, where a simple dry gin has been distilled for years (a gin with a spicy and citrus-like flavour profile). Flemish Gin 23 is double-distilled in a small batch in a traditional copper pot still. Twenty-three botanicals are added to the basic distillate to create this delicious gin. Not only the classic gin botanicals, but also rare ingredients such as hops, carob and yarrow are used. The result is a crystal clear gin with an ABV of 46%.
Immediately, a swirling aroma of spices, pepper, thyme, citrus and juniper emerges in the glass. The pure taste is powerful, rich in alcohol but above all refined, with again spicy accents, a beautiful freshness, mineral and long, with a bone-dry, peppery finish.
